02|01|08 Albert Metzer – Anarchy: Cases For And Against. Some nice light new year reading. Surprisingly easy to read book, given the subject matter. It’s doesn’t really present itself as an anarchist manifesto (is there such a thing?) but a series of well reasoned replies to the general arguments against (or dismissing) anarchism, and giving a nice overview of the history and different strains of anarchist thought. I would quite like to try reading his autobiography now, If I could paint Golden angels” to see a bit about how he developed his views. I’ve also got the anarchist reader by George Woodcock, but that seems to be a bit more detailed, so I decided I’d have a read up on wikipedia so i know my Proudhon from my Kropotkin before I dive in…
